New Jersey bill would redact signatures

New Jersey recently introduced a bill that would require agencies to black out any handwritten signatures on documents before uploading them to the web.

The bill would also require state agencies “to archive any document published on the State agency’s website that displays a person’s handwritten signature prior to the effective date of the bill.”

Under this change, the agency would then be allowed to republish the record after the signature is redacted. The bill is sponsored by Assemblywoman  Annette Quijano, who introduced it in September. The bill is currently sitting in the New Jersey Assembly’s State and Local Government Committee.
